Islamabad, Feb 3: Islamabad is set to witness significant improvements in its public transportation system as the Capital Development Authority (CDA) announces the launch of feeder bus services. The move, approved by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, aims to expand transportation options for residents and enhance connectivity across the city.
Three new routes have been earmarked for the service: Tarnol to Secretariat, Bahria Town to Pirwadhai, and Rawat Chowk to Secretariat. The decision was made during a meeting at the CDA headquarters, where Randhawa and other key officials discussed the details of the expansion. He emphasized the importance of strategically designing the bus routes to pass through major areas, including business districts, universities, hospitals, and other significant locations, ensuring that commuters have convenient access to essential services.

In a bid to streamline the travel experience, Randhawa instructed officials to implement a card system for passengers, catering to both weekly and monthly users. This initiative aims to provide more flexibility and ease for regular commuters. Additionally, he proposed the development of a mobile application to facilitate ticket booking and real-time tracking of buses, further improving the convenience for travelers.
Highlighting the need for inclusivity, Randhawa also recommended offering financial assistance to specific groups, such as senior citizens, to make public transportation more affordable and accessible for all segments of the population.
With these developments, Islamabad’s public transport system is poised for a more efficient, accessible, and user-friendly experience, addressing the growing needs of the city’s residents. The launch of the feeder bus services is expected to contribute significantly to the city’s broader mobility goals and ensure better connectivity across key areas.
