Islamabad, Sep 5: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has declared plans to launch a major anti-encroachment operation in the long-stalled and under-developed E-12 sector, to restart development work initiated over 35 years ago.
This decision was made during a meeting chaired by CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa, as stated in an official press release on Wednesday.
When the CDA first introduced the E-12 area in 1989, more than 4,000 plots were sold. Plot purchasers, however, have had to wait decades for the construction of their properties because the industry hasn’t advanced much since its founding.
Many property owners, some of whom have died away after waiting for more than 35 years, expressed their frustration to a CDA official. He referred to the scenario as a “great injustice,” pointing out that those who bought plots when they were older and more mature are probably in their 70s or beyond.
The official stated that a long-running disagreement overcompensation for the acquired land between the local landowners and the CDA was the main cause of the development’s delay.
While the CDA had started some development work a few years prior, it was put on hold because of unresolved conflicts with local landowners and contractors.
The CDA chairman emphasized at the meeting how crucial it is to coordinate the anti-encroachment effort with the city government and the Islamabad Police. He also declared his intention to personally oversee the resolution of problems and expedite the development process by visiting section E-12.
The chairman of the CDA also demanded that comparable measures be used in other sectors, such as I-15 and I-12, in order to get rid of encroachments and guarantee the timely completion of development projects.
