Islamabad, Feb 25: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Islamabad held a balloting ceremony on Monday for residential plots in Margalla Enclave, a collaborative housing project between the two entities.

The event, hosted at the Jacaranda Family Club in DHA Phase-2, Islamabad, drew a large number of applicants and was attended by prominent figures, including CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa and Acting Administrator of DHA Islamabad-Rawalpindi, Brigadier (retd) Ghulam Murtaza.

The project has generated substantial public interest, receiving approximately 47,000 applications for plots of 125, 250, and 500 square yards. This overwhelming response underscores the high demand for quality housing in the federal capital.

Chairman Randhawa emphasized that Margalla Enclave represents the beginning of a long-term partnership between CDA and DHA, aimed at addressing Islamabad’s housing shortage. He assured that development work is progressing at a swift pace and that successful applicants will be able to take possession of their plots within a year.

The Project Director of Margalla Enclave further detailed that around 1,000 residents from the villages of Rehara and Kurri, located within the project area, will be relocated with fair compensation for their land. This relocation plan ensures a smooth transition for existing inhabitants while paving the way for modern residential development.

Margalla Enclave boasts a prime location at the foothills of the Margalla Hills, spanning approximately 10,000 kanals. Its accessibility via link roads from Park Road and Srinagar Highway enhances its appeal, making it a well-connected and desirable housing destination. Additionally, the project will be situated adjacent to the Margalla Botanical Garden, which CDA and DHA plan to jointly enhance, further integrating green spaces into the development.

This large-scale initiative marks a significant step in meeting Islamabad’s growing residential needs while ensuring modern infrastructure, sustainable urban planning, and a high standard of living.
