A meeting regarding sectoral and urban development was held at the CDA Headquarters under the chairmanship of Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa.

The meeting was attended by CDA Board Member Planning and Design Dr. Khalid Hafiz, Member Environment Esfandyar Baloch, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon, Deputy Commissioner CDA, Director Sector Development, other relevant senior officers and a technical team from SUPARCO.

Discussions were held regarding the provision of satellite imagery to CDA by SUPARCO for better urban planning and the identification of land-related issues. Technical team from SUPARCO briefed the participants on the provision of satellite imagery and data as per the MoU between CDA and SUPARCO.

Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that with the help of advanced satellite imagery from SUPARCO, resolving issues related to the land and sectors and ensuring the timely elimination of illegal constructions and encroachments is now easy to tackle. He said that the use of satellite technology will make urban planning in both sectoral and non-sectoral areas more effective and fully transparent.

During the briefing, it was apprised that SUPARCO is providing its full technical support to CDA for better planning in the new sectors of Islamabad. Chairman CDA termed this initiative a significant milestone towards smart urban planning in the Capital City, Islamabad.

Briefing the Chairman CDA on development work in the new sectors, it was informed that development work in Sector C-14 has entered its final stages. The work on TST and kerb stone on the roads in Sector C-14 will be completed soon, and work on drainage, sewerage and horticulture is also progressing rapidly.

Regarding the development work in Sector C-15, it was briefed that earthwork, sub-base work, drainage and sewerage work are progressing rapidly and will be completed soon.

It was further informed that development work in Sector I-12 has also entered its final stages, with base work, TST and other development activities underway. The development work in the central area of Sector I-12 has also reached its completion phases.

The meeting was briefed that construction work has also commenced in Sub-sectors 2 and 3 of Sector E-12. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa directed to complete all construction work in these sectors promptly while ensuring high quality. He instructed that the provision of all basic amenities in the new sectors must be ensured.

Chairman CDA said that development work in long-neglected sectors has not only been restarted but has now entered its final stages. He directed that the possession of developed plots in the new sectors should be ensured at the earliest. He further added that, alongside the completion of mega projects in the city, sector development remains one of our top priorities.
