Islamabad, Feb 17: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has taken a strategic step to enhance its cybersecurity by appointing a specialized cybersecurity firm. This decision was made during a board meeting after a comprehensive proposal was presented by the Member (T&D). The chosen cybersecurity firm will be selected following the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) 2004 guidelines, ensuring compliance and transparency.
The firm’s role will go beyond securing CDA’s digital infrastructure; it will also be tasked with training the IT Directorate staff to ensure they are well-prepared to handle cybersecurity challenges.
This initiative highlights the increasing risks faced by government entities, with cyber threats becoming more sophisticated and frequent. The move to hire a cybersecurity firm is a proactive approach to strengthening CDA’s digital security, which is essential for safeguarding sensitive governmental data and services.
Alongside the cybersecurity efforts, the board also approved the restructuring of the IT Directorate. The former “Computer Directorate” will now be known as the “Information Technology Directorate,” reflecting its broader role in overseeing the authority’s digital operations. In addition, the board authorized the recruitment of staff for vacant positions within the IT Directorate, focusing on contract-based hires through the Human Resource Development (HRD) Directorate.

To optimize the functioning of the IT Directorate, the board approved a comprehensive review of its organizational structure. Vacant or redundant positions across various CDA departments will be reassigned to the IT Directorate, subject to approval by the Chairman. The HRD Directorate has been given a one-month deadline to complete this task, ensuring that the IT Directorate is appropriately staffed to meet the growing demands of digital governance.
As part of this restructuring, there will also be changes to the nomenclature of several positions within the IT Directorate, with official orders to be issued accordingly. In addition, the services of a Deputy Director specializing in Software GSTW will now be deployed within the IT Directorate, further strengthening its technical expertise. This holistic approach to cybersecurity and organizational reform will position the CDA to better defend against emerging digital threats and manage its expanding digital landscape.
