ISLAMABAD, AUGUST 4: In July 2024, the cement dispatches had a dip for the eleventh consecutive month, falling by 6.81 percent. The All-Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association issued figures showing that, in July 2024, there were 3.010 million tons of cement shipped overall, compared to 3.230 million tons during the same month in the previous fiscal year.
The industry’s local cement dispatches in July 2024 were 2.463 million tons, down 11.41 percent from 2.780 million tons in July 2023. Export quantities surged from 449,792 tons in July 2023 to 547,162 tons in July 2024, resulting in a 21.65% rise in despatches.
Cement mills in the North sent 2.192 million tons of cement in July 2024, a 11.40 percent decrease from the 2.474 million tons shipped in July 2023. Conversely, in July 2024, south-based mills shipped 817,799 tons of cement, 8.20 percent higher than they shipped in July 2023 (755,824 tons).
Cement mills located in the North shipped 2.093 million tons of cement to domestic markets in July 2024, an 11.01 percent decrease from the 2.352 million tons shipped in July 2023. In July 2024, mills located in the South sent 369,557 tons of cement to nearby markets, a decrease of 13.62 percent when compared to the 427,847 tons shipped in July 2023.
The amount of goods exported by mills located in the North decreased from 121,814 tons in July 2023 to 98,920 tons in July 2024, representing an 18.79 percent fall. Nonetheless, from 327,977 tons in July of last year to 448,242 tons in July of 2024—a 36.67 percent increase—the South’s exports rose.
