On October 9, 2024, Lt Gen Akhtar Nawaz Satti officially took charge as the Chairman FPSC Islamabad. The oath ceremony took place at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad, and was led by President Asif Ali Zardari. Before this, the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recommended his appointment, which the Establishment Division confirmed on September 5, 2024. He will serve a three-year term starting from his military retirement date.
This position had been vacant since August 2023. Due to this, FPSC’s recruitment and promotion activities faced delays. With Lt Gen Satti on board, the commission aims to return to full strength and resume its operations smoothly.

Military Career and Achievements of Lt Gen Akhtar Nawaz Satti
Before joining FPSC, Lt Gen Satti had a distinguished military career. He held important leadership roles such as:
- Commander of II Corps Multan, one of Pakistan Army’s main corps.
- Vice Chief of General Staff at General Headquarters (GHQ).
- Commandant of Pakistan Military Academy Kakul, where future army officers receive training.
- General Officer Commanding 26 Mechanized Division in Bahawalpur.
- Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), handling disaster response nationwide.
He also received the Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) award for his outstanding service.
