Islamabad, Dec 2: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has proposed a new ‘Partnership or Fusion Formula’ to address the deadlock regarding the Champions Trophy 2025, according to sources reported by ARY News.
Key Details:
- The PCB has sent the ‘Partnership or Fusion Formula’ to the International Cricket Council (ICC), suggesting that Pakistan and India play their matches in ICC tournaments at a neutral venue for the next three years.
- India will not travel to Pakistan, and Pakistan will not visit India for any of their scheduled games in ICC tournaments over the next three years.
- The ICC is expected to make a final decision after consulting with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
This proposal follows a stalemate regarding the Champions Trophy 2025, which is scheduled to take place in Pakistan in February-March 2025. The BCCI had previously refused to send its team to Pakistan for the event and proposed a hybrid model, which would involve hosting some of the matches in Dubai instead of Pakistan.
The PCB rejected the hybrid model and reiterated that the entire tournament must be held in Pakistan. PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that any agreement should be based on equality and fairness, ensuring that all cricket boards involved benefit from a balanced resolution.
As of now, the ICC has not made a final decision but is expected to consult with all relevant stakeholders, including the BCCI, before proceeding.
