Islamabad, Feb 8: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has offered special guidance to pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025, emphasizing the importance of strong performances in the prestigious tournament.
While inaugurating the newly renovated Gaddafi Stadium on Friday, Shehbaz Sharif expressed confidence in the national team’s potential. He highlighted the nation’s high expectations, urging the players to deliver an outstanding performance and secure the Champions Trophy 2025 title for Pakistan.
During his address at the grand reopening of the stadium, the Prime Minister commended the swift completion of renovations, which were finalized in just 117 days. He praised the Pakistan cricket team for their recent impressive performances and encouraged them to maintain their winning momentum.
Shehbaz Sharif exuded optimism about Pakistan’s prospects in the tournament, particularly against arch-rivals India. He stated that a victory over India would not only boost national pride but also bring immense joy to the 240 million Pakistanis eagerly supporting their team.
Underscoring the value of teamwork, the Prime Minister drew parallels between sports and governance, stressing that collective efforts lead to success in every field. He attributed the country’s financial stability to his cabinet’s unified strategies and hard work.
Additionally, Shehbaz Sharif offered words of motivation to key players, particularly Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, urging them to lead from the front. He specifically advised Shaheen Afridi to take inspiration from his father-in-law, former cricketer Shahid Afridi, and aim for an exceptional wicket-taking spree.
The Prime Minister assured that the government would ensure top-tier security arrangements for all matches, allowing cricket fans to witness world-class sporting action without concerns. In recognition of the collective effort, the Prime Minister congratulated all PCB members and directed the chairman to reward individuals who played a pivotal role in completing this remarkable project.
