Islamabad, 19 May, 2025: EV Charging Stations in Sindh are set to become a reality following a strategic visit by senior provincial leaders to China.
Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and Minister for Energy Syed Nasir Hussain Shah recently toured the headquarters of Chery Holdings Group in Wuhu, China, where they received a warm reception from company Chairman Yin Tongyu.
During the high-level meeting, Chery expressed readiness to install EV Charging Stations in Sindh at regular intervals of 50 kilometres across all districts.

The initiative, championed by Sharjeel Inam Memon, aims to transform the region’s transport landscape by enabling a reliable charging network for electric bikes, cars, and trucks.
Step Towards Greener Mobility
Sharjeel Memon remarked that modernising Sindh’s public and private transport systems is a key priority.
He said the province is committed to reducing carbon emissions by promoting electric mobility.
Chery’s commitment to this vision includes not only charging infrastructure but also the setup of an electric mini-truck assembly facility in Karachi.
Officials noted that the rollout of EV Charging Stations in Sindh would not only benefit commuters but also create jobs and make environmentally friendly vehicles more affordable for the general population.
Solar Projects to Alleviate Energy Burden
In addition to EV-related investments, the ministers reported strong Chinese interest in supporting solar power projects in rural parts of Sindh.
Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said the solarisation of homes is already under way, particularly for low-income households.

He explained that this effort would allow residents to meet their basic electricity needs independently and reduce their dependence on costly grid power.
According to the ministers, these renewable energy initiatives are expected to cut electricity costs, decrease load shedding, and uplift local economies by opening up new employment channels.
With these efforts, Sindh moves closer to a cleaner, self-sustaining energy future powered by EV Charging Stations in Sindh and accessible solar energy.
