Islamabad, July 14, 2025: The price of broiler chicken has surged once again, rising by Rs. 30 per kilogram, triggering frustration among already burdened consumers. Despite government-fixed rates, chicken meat is being sold at inflated prices in local markets across the country.
The official chicken rate in Pakistan is Rs. 577 per kg, but retail vendors are demanding anywhere between Rs. 595 to Rs. 610 per kg, clearly ignoring regulatory directives. This marks yet another instance of chicken rate today exceeding official limits, with shopkeepers openly violating price controls.
A quick market survey revealed that no poultry seller is complying with the fixed chicken price, and most are overcharging by Rs. 20 to 30 per kg. The broiler chicken price hike is now a regular concern, especially for low- and middle-income families struggling with rising food costs.

Consumers are urging local authorities to take strict action against profiteers and enforce the official pricing mechanism. Until then, the cost of chicken per kg in Pakistan remains a burden on household budgets, reflecting the broader issue of unchecked inflation in essential commodities.
