Islamabad, June 7, 2025: China has agreed to provide Pakistan with 40 J-35A stealth fighter jets, KJ-500 Airborne Warning and Control Systems (AWACS), and HQ-19 long-range missile defense systems.
The deal, reported by Defense Security Asia on May 18, marks a significant advancement in strengthening Pakistan’s air power and improving its aerial defense capabilities amid rising regional military tensions.
The J-35A stealth jets are China’s newest fifth-generation combat jets, designed with cutting-edge stealth features, upgraded avionics, and multipurpose combat readiness. The initial shipment is scheduled to reach Pakistan by early 2026, with additional deliveries to follow in stages.
With the inclusion of the KJ-500 AWACS, Pakistan will gain stronger aerial monitoring and coordination capabilities. Meanwhile, the HQ-19 system is expected to improve the country’s defenses against high-altitude threats and ballistic missile attacks.
Experts believe this strategic supply package is part of China’s broader plan to assist Pakistan in upgrading its defense forces and to counterbalance India’s recent military advancements.
