Islamabad, Aug 31: On Friday, the 2024 Online Summer Camp for Training Local Chinese Teachers in Pakistan came to a successful conclusion. This four-day session was designed to improve the knowledge and abilities of local educators. From August 23 to 26, Xinjiang Agricultural University (XAU) hosted the event, which was also co-organized by the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Education International Exchange Association and the Confucius Institute at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (CIUAF).
Participating in the summer camp were 37 Chinese language lovers from overseas and local teachers. They represented two Confucius Classrooms, five Confucius Institutes, and seven universities in Pakistan. The goal of the camp was to improve the participants’ teaching talents so that the nation would have a strong and capable teaching force.
Professors and specialists from renowned Chinese universities, such as Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Hebei University, Zhejiang Normal University, and XAU, contributed to the enrichment of the training sessions. Instructors from other Confucius Institutes also provided the curriculum with their invaluable knowledge and expertise.
The curriculum for the summer camp was split into two modules, each designed to cater to the individual needs of the campers. The first module, “International Chinese Education Theory and Practice,” included five lectures that covered a variety of subjects, including syllabus development, grammatical case studies, vocabulary instruction strategies, professional planning for local Chinese teachers, and the use of technology in Chinese language instruction.
Three interactive workshops intended to fully immerse participants in Chinese culture were presented in the second module, “Chinese Culture Video Sharing and Hands-on Experiences.” These workshops gave attendees a special chance to interact with and learn about several facets of Chinese culture. Activities included paper cutting, calligraphy, and an introduction to Peking Opera. The expansion of Chinese language education in Pakistan has been aided by this excellent event, which has highlighted the expanding educational collaboration between China and Pakistan.
