Islamabad, 12 June 2025: China’s Solar Revolution appears to be entering a new phase of technological dominance as one of the nation’s leading photovoltaic manufacturers, Longi, revealed an advanced solar panel design that redefines the upper limits of performance and efficiency.
Presented during the prestigious SNEC 2025 international solar exhibition in Shanghai, the latest module boasts an exceptional 700-watt power output with a module-level efficiency of 25.9% setting a new milestone for commercial solar technology.
The innovation centers around Longi’s in-house developed Hybrid Interdigitated Back Contact (HIBC) solar cell technology. In April 2025, the HIBC cell set a new global record with a 27.81% power conversion efficiency, underlining China’s accelerating progress in renewable energy innovation.
This next-generation solar panel is constructed on a full-format silicon wafer and achieves a power density of 259 watts per square meter, supported by a temperature coefficient of -0.24% per °C—an attribute that enhances its performance in high-temperature environments, such as deserts or tropical zones.

Longi attributes this efficiency to its sophisticated dual-phase passivation process on the cell’s front surface, combined with a dense polymer sealant layer that enhances long-term durability against environmental stress.
In a further refinement, the company introduced a one-line welding structure integrated into its Tairay wafer platform, designed specifically to reduce micro-cracking and extend the lifespan of each module.
Describing the innovation as a new benchmark in photovoltaic engineering, Longi emphasized that the breakthrough is the result of synergistic progress in solar cell architecture, advanced materials, and manufacturing techniques.
