Islamabad, June 24, 2025: A major development in Pakistan’s electric vehicle assembly plant in Punjab is underway. China’s Skywell New Energy Vehicles Group signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Punjab Industries & Commerce Department to set up an EV assembly plant in the province.
The facility will be built on 75 acres of land inside Punjab’s Special Economic Zone (SEZ). It will manufacture electric buses, cars, two-wheelers, and three-wheelers for both local and export markets.
The MoU was signed by Provincial Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain and Skywell CEO Biwan Han during a ceremony at the Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) office.

The minister said the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is taking swift action to promote eco-friendly transport through the electric vehicle assembly plant. He reiterated that investors in electric vehicles, EV batteries, and charging infrastructure will receive full support and facilitation.
“We are prioritizing sustainable transportation and industrial growth in Punjab,” he said, adding that the project will also bring employment opportunities and strengthen the province’s foreign investment portfolio.
Skywell’s CEO confirmed the company’s vision to not only serve Pakistan’s domestic market but also export EVs manufactured in Punjab. The Punjab government, assured foolproof security and investor-friendly policies for all foreign and domestic players in the industry.
