Islamabad, Jan 30: A Chinese firm, ADM Group, has announced plans to establish 3,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across Pakistan, with the aim of promoting green energy adoption and creating significant employment opportunities. The initiative is expected to play a key role in boosting the country’s transition to sustainable transportation.
A delegation from ADM Group met with Sindh Energy Minister Nasir Hussain Shah and other stakeholders to discuss the expansion of EV infrastructure in Pakistan. Minister Shah expressed strong support for the project, emphasizing its importance for the growth of the EV ecosystem. The proposed charging stations will be spread across urban centers and highways to ensure widespread availability of charging facilities for EV users.

Each charging station is estimated to cost Rs. 8 million, with an initial deposit of Rs. 1 million required for installation. The initiative is projected to generate around one million jobs, further enhancing the socio-economic impact of the project.
In addition to the charging stations, ADM Group has signed an agreement with the federal government to help develop the national EV infrastructure. The company is also considering setting up manufacturing plants in Pakistan to produce electric vehicles locally. If approved, local EV production could begin later this year, with the potential for Pakistan to export “Made in Pakistan” electric vehicles to countries such as India.
ADM Group’s CEO Yasir Bhambhani outlined plans for the company to build three plants in Karachi, Punjab, and Balochistan, with a total annual production capacity of 72,000 units. Bhambhani also mentioned that the Sindh provincial government could purchase 20% of locally manufactured EVs, further strengthening the market for sustainable vehicles.
This collaboration between Pakistan and China signals a significant step forward in developing the country’s green energy infrastructure and positioning Pakistan as a key player in the global EV market. The growth of EV infrastructure and production plants aligns with Pakistan’s broader goals of reducing carbon emissions and fostering a cleaner, more sustainable future.
