Islamabad, Aug 4: The formal visit of Chinese Premier Li Qiang to Pakistan next month will mark a significant milestone in the ongoing growth of ties between the two countries.
The visit’s timing has been confirmed by official sources to be between October 14 and 16. The trip happens at a critical juncture for Pakistan-China relations, following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s most recent visit to Beijing. During his three days in Pakistan, Premier Li Qiang is expected to have high-level discussions for bilateral cooperation.
There will be two separate parts to the visit. Premier Li is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on October 14th for bilateral consultations as part of the first phase. The objectives of these discussions are to address topics of shared interest, investigate new avenues for collaboration, and strengthen Pakistan-China strategic partnership.
Premier Li’s second visit will see her attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), summit on October 15 and 16. Leaders from the SCO’s member nations will assemble in Pakistan for the summit to talk about urgent issues, including as economic cooperation and regional security.
A number of agreements are anticipated to be signed during Premier Li’s visit, strengthening the strong relations that already exist between Beijing and Islamabad. Officials see this visit, which comes after more than a decade since the last visit by a Chinese premier to Pakistan, as a continuation of the momentum in bilateral relations, strengthened by the two countries’ most recent diplomatic encounters.
