Corteva Agriscience, a Singapore-based agricultural science company, has shown interest in introducing climate-resilient hybrid corn seeds in Pakistan, aiming to boost yields by up to 32 percent.
The advanced seeds are designed to withstand drought and unpredictable weather conditions, offering a sustainable solution to the country’s growing food security challenges.
In a meeting with Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Corteva’s Commercial Director for Southeast Asian Markets, Bryce Sturgess, highlighted how hybrid seed technology could help farmers tackle water shortages and climate change impacts.
He stressed that adopting these seeds could enhance productivity, reduce crop losses, and promote long-term agricultural sustainability.

Minister Hussain welcomed the initiative, noting that Pakistan’s agriculture sector urgently needs modernization. He said the use of hybrid seeds, combined with improved farming practices, would increase farmers’ income and support national self-sufficiency in food production.
Pakistan currently faces severe water stress, with annual per capita water availability falling below 1,000 cubic meters. Climate change has worsened the situation, bringing higher temperatures, frequent droughts, and irregular rainfall. Outdated farming methods and limited access to technology further limit productivity.
Corteva Agriscience expressed its commitment to working with the Pakistani government to introduce modern agricultural solutions that can address these pressing challenges and strengthen food security through sustainable innovation.
