Islamabad, Mar 7, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz paid a surprise visit to Mayo Hospital, where patients and their families voiced concerns over the unavailability of medicines, inadequate facilities, and poor management.
Expressing severe dissatisfaction, she immediately directed the dismissal of the hospital’s Medical Superintendent (MS).
During her inspection, she criticized the administration for failing to deliver essential healthcare services, emphasizing that people arrive with high hopes but leave without receiving proper treatment.
Patients highlighted an alarming shortage of critical medical supplies, including syringes and cannulas, while the cardiology ward was discovered to be in an unhygienic state with pest infestations.
A heartfelt plea from a young girl struggling to obtain medicine for her ailing mother deeply moved the Chief Minister, prompting her to convene an emergency meeting on-site.
She instructed the immediate clearance of pending medical dues and demanded strict disciplinary measures against those accountable for negligence.

Additionally, Maryam Nawaz ordered health authorities to ensure the uninterrupted availability of essential medicines and called for a comprehensive hospital renovation plan.
She personally visited various wards, engaged with patients, and reassured them of improved medical services.
During the visit, she attentively listened to grievances from multiple attendants, including a distressed woman from Sindh and another from Gujranwala.
Responding to an urgent appeal, she issued immediate directives to facilitate a kidney transplant for a critically ill patient.
Her visit underscored a firm commitment to overhauling Punjab’s healthcare system, ensuring better medical facilities, and holding those responsible for inefficiencies accountable.
