Islamabad, Feb 5: On Wednesday, Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, invited Chinese enterprises to visit Karachi and other parts of Sindh to explore investment opportunities in key sectors such as clean energy, infrastructure development, and public transportation projects. He was speaking to a delegation led by Ji Wei, Chairman of NORINCO International Co., Ltd., during President Asif Ali Zardari’s visit to China.
The delegation also included prominent figures from various Chinese companies, such as Mu Yuehui (Chairman of BEIBEN TRUCKS GROUP CO., Ltd.), Li Jinxing (Chairman of China North Vehicle Co., Ltd.), and Qian Zhongli (Chairman of Jiangsu Taida Electromechanical Equipment Co., Ltd.).

The Chief Minister emphasized that the Sindh government is committed to providing all necessary facilities and incentives to foreign investors, particularly from China. He encouraged companies like North Vehicle and Beiben to consider setting up vehicle assembly plants in the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone (SEZ), which offers substantial tax exemptions to attract foreign investment.
Additionally, CM Shah highlighted the province’s potential for energy-intensive industries, particularly in utilizing the region’s Thar coal resources. These could be used in coal chemical industries, coal liquefaction and gasification, and coal-to-ethylene glycol production for synthetic yarn.
He also spoke about Sindh’s robust policy supporting sustainable development, including a national commitment to electric vehicles. The Sindh CM outlined the province’s advantages, such as a skilled workforce, abundant natural resources, port access, and attractive incentives for investors. He mentioned the Dhabeji, Khairpur, and Marble City Karachi SEZs, which present excellent opportunities for Chinese companies, especially those interested in infrastructure, energy, and new energy vehicles.
The delegation, led by Ji Wei, expressed interest in participating in infrastructure development and transportation projects in Sindh. They provided an overview of their company’s extensive network and expertise in various fields, including rail transit, power, petroleum, mining, municipal projects, heavy-duty vehicles, R&D, and solar products.
Senator Saleem H. Mandviwalla, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, Minister for Energy and Planning Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi were also present at the meeting, which centered on fostering further collaboration between Sindh and Chinese companies.
