ISLAMABAD, April 15: In a powerful and emotional address at the First Overseas Pakistanis Convention in Islamabad, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir praised the contributions of overseas Pakistanis, calling them ambassadors of the nation and a critical asset for the country’s progress.
“This Is Not Brain Drain — It’s Brain Gain”
General Munir addressed the gathering with heartfelt appreciation for the diaspora, stating,
“Those who propagate the narrative of brain drain should understand that this is not brain drain, but brain gain, and overseas Pakistanis are the finest example of it.”
He described the overseas community as deeply connected to the nation’s identity, assuring attendees that the love and pride felt by expats for Pakistan is reciprocated with equal intensity by the country.
A Bold Message on Security and National Resolve
Turning to the topic of national security, General Munir delivered a firm and unapologetic message to Pakistan’s enemies.
“Our enemies believe a handful of terrorists can dictate our future. But ten generations of such militants can do no harm to Balochistan or Pakistan.”
Reaffirming the Pakistan Army’s unwavering commitment to protecting the nation, he declared,
“As long as the brave people of this country stand with the Pakistan Army, your army can overcome every challenge with ease.”
Gratitude, Resilience, and Shared Purpose
Emphasising Pakistan’s natural wealth and divine blessings, General Munir urged citizens to remain grateful and united.
“Allah has blessed Pakistan with abundant resources, for which we must always remain grateful.”
He then echoed a strong call for national progress:
“Today, we are sending a clear message together: whoever stands in the way of Pakistan’s progress, we will remove that obstacle together.”
Reconnecting Overseas Pakistanis with Their Heritage
To the millions of Pakistanis living abroad, the COAS delivered a message rooted in pride and identity:
“No matter which country you live in, remember your heritage stems from a noble society, ideology, and civilization. We do not fear adversity. We have never bowed down before challenges, nor will we ever do so.”
He encouraged overseas Pakistanis to hold their heads high as representatives of a powerful and resilient nation.
