Islamabad, Feb 6: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted mainly cold and dry weather across most parts of the country on Friday, with hilly areas experiencing very cold conditions during the evening and night hours.
A continental air system is currently influencing the weather, keeping conditions dry throughout the region. However, a shallow westerly wave is expected to approach the western parts of the country by tomorrow evening or night, potentially bringing slight changes to the weather patterns.
In the last 24 hours, cold and dry weather prevailed in most areas, with isolated rain and snowfall reported in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Specifically, Dir (Upper) recorded 4mm of rainfall, while Pattan received 2mm.
Temperature-wise, the lowest minimum temperatures were recorded at Leh (-13°C), Ziarat (-07°C), Gupis, Kalat, and Quetta (-06°C), Astore, Kalam, and Skardu (-04°C), while Bagrote, Malam Jabba, Hunza (-03°C), and Dir and Rawalakot (-02°C) also saw sub-zero temperatures.
Authorities have issued an advisory urging residents, particularly in the hilly regions, to take precautions against the cold weather and possible disruptions due to snowfall.
