Islamabad, July 20, 2025: Columbia University has opened applications for the Beyond the Bars Fellowship 2025–2026, offering a unique opportunity for individuals impacted by incarceration or dedicated to ending mass incarceration in the U.S. The fellowship aims to empower changemakers through leadership development, community collaboration, and justice advocacy.
What Is the Beyond the Bars Fellowship?
The Beyond the Bars Fellowship is a transformative leadership program hosted by Columbia’s School of Social Work. It brings together students and community activists to explore strategies that challenge the injustices of the criminal legal system. This program focuses on healing justice, community organizing, and policy reform.
Fellows will attend weekly in-person seminars from October 2025 to May 2026, learning from leading experts, building advocacy skills, and collaborating with social justice organizations.
