Islamabad, Sep 7: In light of the recent rains, Commissioner Sargodha Jahanzeb Awan has directed that a thorough resurvey of all educational institutions in the division be conducted.
The directive was given out on Saturday at the commissioner’s office in this city during a meeting with representatives from the literacy, special education, and school departments. The commissioner issued orders for the location of structures deemed risky, the transfer of students to institutions in the vicinity, and the creation of construction and repair budgets for buildings that had sustained damage.
He gave officials orders to make sure that government schools have the necessary facilities, to hold frequent teacher performance improvement workshops, and to make sure that watchmen, guards, and gardeners are deployed 100% of the time at government schools, particularly those for girls.
Additionally, the commissioner mandated that students from schools without scientific or IT labs be moved to neighboring universities to do practical work. He announced that regular anti-dengue campaigns would be held in all government schools and that pupils would be urged to plant trees and tend to them until they became large, towering trees. Under the Chief Minister’s Punjab Initiatives, he directed the establishment of one state-of-the-art special education institution in each district and the provision of transportation services for students enrolled in special education institutes.
The meeting was informed that there were 1,047,453 students enrolled in government schools, including 545,960 girls and 5,01,493 boys. The meeting was also informed that out of a total of 44,098 teaching posts in the four districts, 12,006 were lying vacant. Out of a total of 9,135 non-teaching staff posts, 2,834 were lying vacant. The meeting was also informed that there were 12 madrasas operating under the Education Department in the four districts.In addition, the four districts included 34 special education schools, 1,047 National Commission for Human Development centers, and 1,182 literacy centers.
