The Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has been instructed by the Pakistan Information Committee to provide the tempered vehicle details that were sent to other ministries.
According to the letter, Chairman FBR has received a notice from the Pakistan Information Commission over the provision of vehicle details provided by Customs Intelligence to various departments in exchange for token money.
Malik Tariq Mahmood approached the Pakistan Information Commission after not receiving the information he had requested under the Information Act from Customs Intelligence and investigation. It is significant to note that, according to allegations from sources, modified automobiles were seized by Pakistan Customs and the Excise Department in Islamabad. Officials from the Excise and Customs departments in Pakistan allegedly used these cars for their own use.
In an effort to improve their rapport, both agencies have recently begun to gift expensive cars to influential officials who work in practically every department for a nominal sum of money. According to other sources, no department, not even the Senate of Pakistan, receives information about tempered vehicles from the Excise Department in Islamabad.
