Islamabad, Aug 25: The Bangladesh cricket team defeated the Shan Masood-led Pakistan squad in the Rawalpindi Test, with the latter’s batting order breaking down and failing to muster a respectable total in the second half of the match.
Bangladesh was within striking distance of victory as the rest of the batting order collapsed like a “wall of sand,” with the exception of Mohammad Rizwan, who remained steady. Babar Azam went out for 22 while Abdullah Shafiq scored 37 runs. Only 14 runs could be scored by Captain Shan Masood before he was sent back to the pavilion. Pakistan’s problems were exacerbated by the dismissals of Salman Agha and Saud Shakeel without any points.
Before they left quickly, Saeem Ayub scored just one run in the lower order, Shaheen Afridi scored two, and Naseem Shah scored three. Bangladesh now needs a manageable total of runs to win the Test match against Pakistan, who have produced one of their worst performances against them.
It will also be their first Test cricket victory over Pakistan. In Test cricket, Pakistan’s innings total against Bangladesh has never been lower. The spinners’ precise and well-executed bowling made the day theirs. Miraz took four wickets, while Shakib took three, with the exception of Rizwan, none of the batsmen could actually pose a threat to the Bangladeshi bowlers.
When was the last time a side declared their first Innings and lost the test match, pundits asked? It happened during an England vs. Australia test match that took place in Birmingham on June 16, 2023.
One of the pundits stated that if someone claims that Pakistan lost due of the declaration of the first innings, they are not familiar with the game plan. Pakistan attempted to gain an edge with pace bowling, but the pitch deceived them.
