KARACHI: Despite recent Indian military strikes targeting regions in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, daily life across Karachi and other areas of Sindh proceeded uninterrupted.
In response to the broader security developments, provincial authorities proactively devised and implemented a contingency plan, increasing vigilance and deploying additional security measures throughout Sindh.
Educational institutions remained operational without disruption, and intermediate examinations were conducted according to schedule in Karachi and other cities of the province.
Retired Brigadier Wajid Sibghatullah Mahar, Director General of Rescue-1122 Sindh, confirmed to media that a comprehensive emergency preparedness plan had been finalized.
Rescue 1122 Sindh
“Rescue-1122 Sindh is on heightened alert, equipped with the necessary manpower, logistical resources, and coordination protocols to effectively manage any crisis,” he stated.
The plan, reviewed by media, outlines the service’s strategy for swift deployment across the province in case of emergency.
Simultaneously, the Sindh Health Department declared a state of emergency across all public health facilities due to the current regional tensions.
A circular issued by the Director General of Health instructed the cancellation of all leaves for healthcare staff, including physicians and nurses, ensuring full staffing levels.
It also emphasized the importance of maintaining real-time coordination between health services, Rescue-1122, district administrators, and law enforcement agencies.
Under the emergency response framework, ambulances are fully integrated with Rescue-1122’s dispatch system to provide immediate medical aid wherever required.
The finalized contingency plan has been circulated among all district administrations for awareness and implementation.

He instructed city police units to remain stationed at their respective headquarters and reiterated that all previously approved leaves for police personnel had been cancelled.
