Islamabad, Aug 15, 2025: Coolie box-office collection flew triumphantly in the first-day grossing 65 crore net across India opening on August 14, 2025. The action thriller, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and starring Rajinikanth, is the biggest Tamil opener ever, in terms of collected revenues, having surpassed its competitor, War 2.
By standing in taxing auditoriums, Tamil film showed almost a full house, whereas Telugu and Hindi versions had also been watched by a large audience, indicating the popularity of the film. Coolie was an international box office success: internationally, it was the ninth highest-grossing Tamil film ever on its first day, and has had exceptional pre-sales (with opening-day ticket prices topping out in Chennai and receiving viral fan buzz in overseas markets).

With plenty of name value in its cast, including Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Sathyaraj, and a cameo by Aamir Khan, the Lokesh-directed bonanza made use of the inherent charisma of Rajinikanth to make a blockbuster debut.
Even at the verge of its end, the Coolie box office collection can be a strong contention and a mark of triumph, a new level to Tamil cinema and a success of the release based on the festival-like reception.
