In a major step toward technological advancement, Pakistan and China have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote cooperation in quantum technology and other advanced sciences.
The agreement, made with the support of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), aims to strengthen Pakistan’s economy through innovation and high-tech development.
Under this partnership, a National Center for Quantum Computing will be established as part of CPEC Phase II, with a focus on research, training and expert exchange programs.
The initiative is expected to boost progress in fields such as health, energy and climate change research while also enhancing cybersecurity, logistics and defense capabilities.

Through SIFC’s facilitation, Pakistan seeks to modernize its industrial and scientific sectors by adopting the latest quantum technologies. The inclusion of advanced Chinese companies will help bring new investment opportunities, stabilize the economy, and introduce local industries to cutting-edge innovations.
Officials said that digital transformation and technological self-reliance are now among SIFC’s top priorities, aimed at driving Pakistan toward sustainable economic growth and a stronger digital future.
