Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has set a new world record by becoming the first-ever billionaire footballer, with an estimated wealth of $1.4 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
The 40-year-old striker, currently playing for Saudi club Al Nassr, has built his massive fortune through his career earnings, global brand deals, and business investments.
Bloomberg revealed that Ronaldo earned around $550 million in salaries between 2002 and 2023, while his sponsorship, including a decade-long deal with Nike worth nearly $18 million per year, added millions more to his income.
Since joining Al Nassr in 2022, Ronaldo has been the highest-paid player in the world, receiving an annual salary of around $236.9 million. He recently extended his contract for two more years, reportedly worth over $400 million, ensuring his stay with the club.
