Islamabad – May 4, 2025: A CRPF officer has been dismissed for allegedly hiding his marriage to a Pakistani woman, sparking debate amid rising India-Pakistan tensions.
Munir Ahmed, transferred to Bhopal a day before his dismissal, allegedly broke service rules by hiding his marriage to Pakistani citizen Minal Khan.
The CRPF cited national security concerns and breaches of protocol as grounds for the action.
Indian media reports indicate that Ahmed’s marriage took place in May 2024, following an online relationship.

He claimed the nikah was solemnised via video call on May 24, and that he had obtained prior approval from CRPF headquarters.
Ahmed said he informed superiors in December 2022 and submitted all required documents, including affidavits and the nikah certificate, before the wedding.
Despite his claims, the CRPF maintained that Ahmed failed to disclose key details and allowed his wife to remain in India beyond her visa expiry on 22 March 2024.
Minal Khan entered India via Wagah-Attari on 28 February and later secured a court stay on deportation after applying for a Long-Term Visa with her husband.
Ahmed expressed surprise over his dismissal, saying he first learned about it through media reports before receiving official confirmation.
He insisted he had adhered to all formal procedures and was never informed that a No Objection Certificate was required.

The officer was posted to the 41st Battalion in Madhya Pradesh on 29 March and claimed he updated his marital status upon arrival.
The case emerged after a deadly attack in Pahalgam that killed 26, sparking speculation of a link to wider geopolitical tensions.
Ahmed, who joined the CRPF in 2017, has announced his intention to challenge the dismissal in court.
Meanwhile, his wife has been granted a temporary stay on deportation for ten more days as legal proceedings continue.
