Islamabad, Aug 11, 2025: Crystal palace vs Liverpool finished in an impressive 3-2 penalty shoot out victory over deadly sheet eagles in the community shield after an invigorating 2 -2 draw at the Wembley stadium. Justin Devenny, who replaced Bailey Peacock-Farrell, converted the winning penalty after Dean Henderson had made two saves and Mohamed Salah had mishit.

The £265m summer recruits gave Liverpool a swift response with Hugo Ekitike scoring at one end and Jeremie Frimpong at the other before the break, with Jean-Philippe Mateta striking a penalty. The Premier League leaders appeared to be dictating but a calm finish in the 77th minute by Ismaila Sarr took Palace on terms once again. Henderson rejected an appeal of penalty by Eberechi Eze and Palace and Devenny nearly scored after it went to stoppage time.

Three moments worth remembering in the shoot-out were the superhero work by Henderson, the calm finish by Mateta and the hero moment of Devenny. After picking up the FA Cup in May, Palace have now won two trophies in three months and are the first debutants to win the Community Shield of the past 50 years. Manager Oliver Glasner commended the strength of his players, and how they kept up with Liverpool on the same level after all throughout.
