The government has imposed a curfew in areas of Bajaur, including 24 towns situated in Mamond tehsil, following an intense attack of the militants by security forces. The curfew started at 5pm on Friday (Aug 16) and is expected to be in effect until 5pm on Aug 21 as an official order was issued by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Home Department.
The order is categorical in warning residents against going outside their houses or using the roads throughout this duration. Authorities warned against activities that would violate the rules and said that those who did so would be responsible to any negative cases that occurred.
Localities under the curfew are Malangi, Suprayi, Dwaogai, Meena Suleman Khel, Khworchai, Chamyar Jor, Zagai, Gat, Agra, Ghandai, Zari, Nakhtar, Mula Killi, Bakro, Gowati, Chamyalon, Larkalan, Barkalan, Ghanam Shah, Chotra, Damadola, Sultan Baig, Inam Khworo and Naga.
In the meantime the Pakistan Army has undertaken emergency reconstruction of the Jarr Bridge that was damaged by recent floods and had isolated Bajaur with its connection to the Dir district. Heavy equipment engineers in the army are trying to put in place an alternative structure though they are working round the clock and are likely to complete the replacement in days to come. After completion, the important road will be open on traffic once again reconnecting the region.

The curfew in certain sections of Bajaur would show the deep determination of the state to stem the tide of terrorism as well as speed up on infrastructure renewal to alleviate the sufferings of the civilians.
