The Daewoo Bus Terminal in Peshawar has been sealed by the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in coordination with the District Administration Peshawar and the Regional Transport Authority (RTA). This move was made on Monday in reaction to the transport company’s neglect to replace aging buses that are used on routes in the southern parts of the province.
The choice was made in accordance with the government’s stringent orders to modernize the outdated fleet. Authorities served Daewoo Express a notice requesting that these outdated buses be replaced after observing their ongoing use. In a coordinated effort, officials placed concrete obstacles in front of the terminal’s entrance gate on G.T. Road, so halting bus operations.District administration representatives stressed that Daewoo Bus Service’s management had to make plans for new buses and adhere to the official code of conduct. The corporation will face further legal action if it doesn’t cooperate.
Such action has been taken against the Daewoo Bus Terminal in Peshawar before. The station was previously closed in 2022 as a result of multiple complaints about antiquated buses, unclean restrooms, a dearth of amenities in waiting areas, and a subpar air conditioning system. The bus terminal was opened in 2022, but issues still exist, as seen by the latest action taken against them.
