Islamabad, June 14, 2025: Materialists, featuring Chris Evans, Dakota Johnson, and Pedro Pascal released on June 13, is creating excitement among fans.
The romantic comedy is written and directed by Academy Award-winning writer Celine Song. The plot centers around Lucy, a driven matchmaker based in New York, who unexpectedly finds herself entangled in a complicated love triangle while on a journey to discover romance for herself.
The official description of the film reads: “A young, ambitious New York City matchmaker finds herself torn between the perfect match and her imperfect ex.”
Dakota Johnson’s latest project has recently received its initial critical reception, with many reviewers strongly urging audiences to give the film a watch.
Respected outlet The Wrap remarked, I do heartily recommend you see Materialists, and that you see it for what it is, not what it kinda looks like from the outside, as pitched to you by the very sort of romance-commodification salespersons that Celine Song’s movie criticizes.”

Meanwhile, BBC Culture praised the film’s focus on its characters and witty exchanges. They shared, “Materialists is exquisitely made, character-driven and talky, with some glittering dialogue. It’s the kind of idiosyncratic film a director sometimes gets to do after a great success and Song makes the most of it.”
