Islamabad, Oct 23: One of Australia’s premier batsmen, David Warner, has formally announced his readiness to return to the Test squad against India. This has created a lot of joy among cricket lovers since Warner hopes to regain the lost glory as he rejoins the international team. Warner’s return, after the brief break, could boost Australia’s batting arsenal ahead of the closely contested Test series.
Warner’s Test Career So Far
David Warner is one of the mainstays of Australian cricket for over a decade now and has the stats to back the prowess. Aggressive batsman among them, Warner has scored more than 8 thousand runs in Test matches and has 25 test scalps.
This makes him an important player in the Australian topmost line up especially due to his prowess in handling both pace and spin bowlers.
But due to one or multiple injuries and form problems, Warner has been often benched in the recent past seasons, that is why his statement is so meaningful.
It’s not just that Warner is available for the Test comeback against India; it’s about rekindling his love for the longest format of cricket. Stating his readiness to wear the Baggy Green again, Warner added, “I have been into intense training of my fitness and techniques and want to help the team.”
The Challenge of Facing India
It will be a tough Test series as India will be the opponents in the next series. India under Virat Kohli has some of the world’s best bowling lineup including Jasprit Bumrah, Ravi Ashwin, and Mohammed Shami. Warner’s Test hundred against India will be a significant flashpoint because he has struggled against the Indian bowlers, especially in subcontinent conditions.
Warner remains sure, nevertheless. He appreciated its potency in the side but made it clear he is willing the face the bowlers head on. “India is something of a fortress in test cricket and is proving ground, but the prospect will not scare me. You always look forward to such a series against them,” Warner added.
