According to Indian media, Deepika was always considered a top choice for the film.
However, her schedule initially posed challenges due to her maternity break following the birth of her first child.
A source close to the project shared that delays in the film’s production worked in favour of the team, allowing Padukone’s calendar to align with the new shooting schedule.

The cast of King includes several notable names beyond the leading pair. Suhana Khan plays a central role, alongside Abhishek Bachchan, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi, and Abhay Verma.
Although official plot details remain limited, early reports suggest that Shah Rukh Khan will portray a don, while Padukone is set to play the mother of Suhana Khan’s character.
