Islamabad, Nov 17: Denmark’s Victoria Kjær Theilvig Wins Miss Universe 2024 Crown. Denmark’s Victoria Kjaer Theilvig won Miss Universe 2024, making history. She is the first competitor from Denmark to ever take home this championship.
The 21-year-old is an ambitious lawyer, businesswoman, and competitive dancer. She won the title on Saturday night after competing against over 120 competitors in Mexico City. The previous champion, Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua, gave Victoria her tiara.
Mario Lopez and Olivia Culpo hosted the event, and musician Robin Thicke performed. After a preliminary event that featured a nationwide costume exhibition, 30 finalists were chosen to begin the competition. After that, competitors engaged in a Q&A session, evening gowns, and swimwear.
Victoria’s opinions and self-assurance impressed the judges. She responded that she wouldn’t change a thing and would live each day to the fullest when asked how she would live differently without passing judgment. “I stand here today because I want a change, I want to make history,” she added, inspiring others to keep working hard.
Maria Fernanda Beltran of Mexico and Chidimma Adetshina of Nigeria finished first and second, respectively. The top five was completed by Ileana Marquez Pedroza of Venezuela and Suchata Chuangsri of Thailand. Pedroza, a 28-year-old mother, broke down boundaries by allowing women over 28 to compete.
The history of Miss Universe underwent major changes this year. Mothers, married women, and anyone over 28 were permitted to compete for the first time. The first woman in her 40s to make it to the finals was Beatrice Njoya of Malta. The pageant’s attempts to modernize are reflected in these modifications.
A few nations, including the UAE, Cuba, Belarus, and Eritrea, participated in the competition for the first time. National-level competitions, like Miss Universe South Africa, were controversial. Adetshina encountered xenophobic animosity before representing Nigeria. Notwithstanding obstacles, this year’s pageant ushered in a new era for Miss Universe by celebrating diversity and defying several conventional conventions.
