Islamabad, July 7, 2025: Healthcare cost in Pakistan continues to rise, pushing basic treatment out of reach for many citizens, especially low-income families. According to official figures, health-related expenses surged by 0.99% in June alone, while the year-on-year increase reached 12.63%.

Among the highest increases, dental services in Pakistan stood out, jumping by 1.54% in June and a massive 26.66% over the year. This makes dental treatment the most expensive healthcare service in the country this year.

Medicine prices in Pakistan also saw a consistent hike — up by 0.63% in June and a total of 15.30% compared to last year. Medical test fees followed a similar trend, increasing by 1.52% monthly and 6.99% annually.

Consultation charges for doctors rose by 1.32% in June, contributing to a 12.80% annual surge. Meanwhile, hospital charges increased by 1.27% during the same month and are now 8.30% higher than last year.

As healthcare in Pakistan grows more unaffordable, many worry about the long-term effects on public health, particularly for those who can no longer afford basic treatment. The rising costs underline the urgent need for reforms in Pakistan’s health sector to ensure access for all.
