Islamabad, Sep 5: Pakistan’s dedication to the Commonwealth and willingness to actively participate in fostering intra-Commonwealth commerce and furthering the Commonwealth’s sustainable development objectives have been underlined by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.
Today in London, he was speaking with Patricia Scotland, the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth. Ishaq Dar emphasized Pakistan’s leadership in driving the young agenda of the Commonwealth and expressed gratitude to the Secretary-General for his backing in setting up the Commonwealth Asia young Alliance Secretariat in Pakistan.
Secretary-General Scotland reminisced on the kind treatment she received on her first visit to Pakistan this past month. She reaffirmed her goal to collaborate closely with Pakistan to address issues related to climate change and empower the country’s youth. Ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa next month, the two leaders also talked about their common agendas.
