Islamabad: Amid growing tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, Pakistan has accused India of launching a highly provocative missile assault, targeting both Pakistani military facilities and allegedly its own civilian population.
In a dramatic press conference held in the early hours of Saturday, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), detailed what he described as an aggressive and reckless escalation by India.
According to the Pakistani military spokesperson, India launched six ballistic missiles from Adampur, a town located in the Jalandhar district of Indian Punjab.
Of those, five reportedly landed in Amritsar, while one fell back into Adampur itself.
“This is an outrageous act—India is now launching ballistic missiles at its own people,” Lt. Gen. Chaudhry stated. “It is both shocking and deeply troubling.
This constitutes a provocation of the highest order and reflects extreme irresponsibility on part of Indian leadership.”
He added that Pakistan stands in solidarity with the Sikh community in Punjab, describing them as victims of what he termed “internal conspiracies” being orchestrated within India.
He further implied that the targeting of Sikh-majority areas in Amritsar could have been deliberate, citing rising internal tensions within Indian society.
Missile Attack on Air Bases in Pakistan
Lt. Gen. Chaudhry also claimed that in addition to these ballistic missile launches, India carried out aerial missile attacks aimed at three critical Pakistani airbases: Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi, Murid Airbase in Chakwal District, and Shorkot Airbase in Jhang. He alleged these attacks were conducted using air-to-surface missiles fired from Indian aircraft.
“Thanks to our advanced defense systems and vigilance, all critical installations remained unharmed. There were no losses or damages,” he assured.
“However, let me make it very clear to India and to the world—wait for our response.”
The military spokesperson further claimed that India’s aggression extended beyond Pakistan.
According to Lt. Gen. Chaudhry, Indian forces also fired missiles into Afghanistan and carried out drone strikes there. These actions, he warned, are dragging the broader region toward a perilous tipping point.
“With its madness, hostility, and persistent deceit, India is steering South Asia into a potential full-scale war,” he said gravely.
“This is not just a conflict between two nations anymore—it’s a looming regional catastrophe if India’s recklessness continues unchecked.”

The Pakistani military leadership has since convened emergency security consultations, with General Asim Munir reportedly in constant communication with top government officials, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who recently chaired a National Command Authority (NCA) meeting to assess the evolving crisis.
The situation remains fluid, and with rhetoric on both sides intensifying, international stakeholders have begun to voice serious concerns.
