On Doral’s Blue Monster, Trump suggested hosting an 18-hole golf duel. He claimed it would rank “among the most-watched sporting events in history, maybe bigger than the Ryder Cup or even the Masters.”
“I’m also officially challenging crooked Joe to an 18-hole golf match right here on Doral’s Blue Monster, considered one of the greatest tournament golf courses anywhere in the world, one of the great courses of the world,” Trump tweeted.
In an alluring proposition, he also offered to contribute $1 million to Biden’s preferred charity in the event that he lost, saying audaciously, “And I will even give Joe Biden 10 strokes a side.” Ten strokes is quite a few. That is, if you don’t play golf, twenty strokes. Additionally, should he prevail, I am going to donate $1 million to any charity of his choosing. Furthermore, I’ll wager that he declines the offer.”
The challenge comes after a contentious conversation on June 27 in Atlanta regarding their respective golf handicaps, during which Trump asserted that he had won two club championships and questioned Biden’s ability to drive a golf ball fifty yards. In response, Biden asserted that he had an eight handicap in golf.
James Singer, a spokesman for Biden, responded with a caustic refutation, criticizing Trump’s recent actions and rejecting the challenge: After a 12-day absence from the public eye, Donald Trump is suddenly taunting little Marco Rubio, inviting fictitious serial criminals to supper, complimenting Project 2025 architect Tom Homan, and putting out the challenge to play golf with the US President,” his statement read.
“We would dare Donald Trump to add three million jobs, but he did not. We would have dared Donald Trump to oppose Putin, but he bowed to him. Although Donald Trump disobeys the law, we would challenge him to do so. We would challenge Donald Trump to refrain from destroying our nation, but that is the only goal of Project 2025.”In an effort to “settle this whole handicap debate,” reigning US Open winner Bryson DeChambeau has even offered to host the possible match on his YouTube channel.
