Islamabad, July 3, 2025: Texas Super Kings (TSK) defeated Washington Freedom by 43 runs in a rain-shortened Major League Cricket match in Lauderhill. The match was reduced to just five overs per side due to bad weather.
Batting first, TSK scored 87 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. Donovan Ferreira played an outstanding innings. He smashed 37 runs off only 9 balls. He hit four sixes in a row in the final over. Shubham Ranjane also played well, making 39 runs from just 14 balls. Their partnership added 53 runs in only 12 balls, helping TSK to a huge total. This score became the second-highest ever in a five-over match.
TSK did not start well. Marcus Stoinis, who was leading the team in the absence of Faf du Plessis, was out for just 1 run. Daryl Mitchell also struggled and was retired out after scoring just 4 runs. However, Ranjane and Ferreira’s quick runs changed the game.

Washington Freedom started their chase with some hope. Rachin Ravindra hit a four and a six early. But Nandre Burger turned the match around by taking two wickets in two balls, removing Ravindra and Glenn Maxwell. Akeal Hosein also bowled well. Though he gave away a six on the first ball of his over, he then bowled five dot balls and took a wicket. Washington Freedom could only score 44 runs for 4 wickets.

With this win, Texas Super Kings moved up to second place on the points table. They now have 12 points, the same as San Francisco Unicorns and Washington Freedom. Each team has two games left. The fight for playoff spots is now very close, making the upcoming matches very exciting for fans.
