Islamabad, Oct 5: E-Scooters Allowed on Dubai Metro Once Again
As of October 4, 2024, Dubai Metro and Tram passengers can now bring foldable e-scooters on board, provided they meet specific requirements set by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). This update comes after the initial ban in March, with new guidelines aimed at ensuring commuter safety while allowing more flexibility for e-scooter users.
Key Guidelines:
- Foldable E-Scooters: Must not exceed 120cm x 70cm x 40cm in size, and the weight must be under 20kg. Scooters must be seatless.
- Handling: E-scooters must be folded at all times in stations, on platforms, and while onboard.
- Restrictions: Riding, charging, and bringing wet or dirty e-scooters inside metro or tram premises are prohibited.
- Safe Transport: Ensure e-scooters do not block doors, aisles, or emergency equipment. Protruding parts like handlebars should be retracted.
- Technical Standards: Only scooters with undamaged, non-modified batteries that meet international standards are allowed. Dual batteries or any scooters emitting contaminants are not permitted.
By adhering to these rules, commuters can enjoy a smoother experience traveling with foldable e-scooters while maintaining safety on public transport systems in Dubai.
