Islamabad, May 25, 2025: In a proactive move, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced early disbursement of salaries and pensions for provincial employees, aiming to ensure financial ease ahead of the expected Eid-ul-Adha 2025 celebrations.

The KP Finance Department issued a formal notification instructing all provincial departments and autonomous bodies to complete salary and pension payments by May 30, well ahead of the Eid holidays. This decision comes as June 1 falls on a Sunday, a non-working day, which would otherwise delay the financial process.

This early salary initiative mirrors similar actions taken in past years during major Islamic festivals, designed to provide government workers with ample time for Eid preparations. With inflation hitting household budgets hard, the timely payment of government salaries in KP will offer welcome relief for thousands of employees and pensioners across the province.

The announcement also aligns with the religious calendar, as the country awaits the official date of Eid-ul-Adha, dependent on the sighting of the Zul-Hijjah moon. The Ministry of Religious Affairs has scheduled a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee on May 27 in Islamabad, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad. Regional crescent-sighting committees will also convene the same day in major cities.

A ministry spokesperson stated, “If the crescent is seen on May 27, Eid will be celebrated on June 6; if not, it will fall on June 7.” However, according to astronomers, the moon is more likely to be visible on May 28, making June 7 the probable Eid date for most regions.

Experts commend KP’s decision as a smart financial management step that prioritizes public welfare. “This kind of planning strengthens public trust and demonstrates administrative foresight,” said economic analyst Imran Shah.

As families gear up for one of the most significant Islamic holidays, this early release of funds will help ease Eid shopping and travel plans, especially for those residing in remote or rural areas.
