Islamabad, June 16, 2025: A moderate earthquake was recorded this evening, with its epicenter located northeast of Chitral, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The earthquake occurred at 6:15 PM Pakistan Standard Time (PST) today, June 16, 2025.
PMD Islamabad reported the earthquake had a magnitude of 4.2 on the Richter scale. It originated at a depth of 76 kilometers.

The epicenter was situated at 36.97 degrees North latitude and 72.70 degrees East longitude, approximately 130 kilometers northeast of Chitral.
Due to its moderate strength and depth, the tremors were likely felt in nearby areas. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
