Despite the rising temperatures, the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has yet to finalize plans for summer vacations.
While parents had hoped for an early commencement of summer holidays due to the sweltering heat, the ministry’s decision is still pending. Typically, schools and colleges under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) begin their summer break in the first week of June.
Previously, in response to the scorching weather, the education ministry had instructed schools and colleges in the federal capital to reduce their operating hours. An official from the ministry mentioned that a decision regarding summer vacation will be made by Friday. Concerns have been raised by parents regarding the delay in the announcement of vacation dates despite the prevailing heatwave.
It is worth noting that provincial governments have already announced their respective summer vacation schedules. Punjab opted for an early closure of schools, while Sindh maintained the original vacation dates.
Additionally, primary schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will observe summer vacations from June 1 to August 31, with middle schools closing from June 15 to August 31. Meanwhile, in Balochistan, areas prone to heat will have summer breaks from May 15 to July 31, while colder regions will enjoy a 10-day vacation from July 22 to July 31.
