Islamabad, Jan 25: The Sindh College Education Department has officially announced the closure of all public and private educational institutions under its jurisdiction on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, in observance of Shab-e-Mairaj (27th Rajab, 1446).
The announcement was made through a notification issued by Asif Ikram, Secretary to the Government of Sindh, following a decision by the Sub-Committee of the Steering Committee on Education during a meeting held on November 28, 2024. The Sindh Information Department also shared the notification on its official Twitter handle, confirming the provincial holiday for colleges.

Significance of Shab-e-Mairaj
Shab-e-Mairaj, meaning “The Night of Ascension,” commemorates the miraculous journey of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to the heavens. Observed on the 27th night of Rajab in the Islamic calendar, this sacred night is revered by Muslims worldwide. Devotees spend the night in prayers, supplications, and seeking blessings and forgiveness.
The notification mandates the closure of educational institutions to honor this important religious occasion, allowing students and staff to partake in spiritual observances.
