- Vehicle Inspection : Drivers are urged to conduct a thorough check of essential components such as engine oil, radiator water levels, tire condition, brakes, and headlights before setting out.
- Seatbelt & Helmet Use : All occupants must wear seatbelts, while motorcyclists are required to wear helmets at all times.
- Speed Control : Motorists are advised to stay within designated speed limits and exercise extra caution during rush hours to avoid accidents.
- Safe Following Distance: Keeping a reasonable distance from the vehicle in front is essential to allow reaction time in case of sudden halts.
- Lane Discipline : Adherence to lane rules and road signage is mandatory to ensure smooth and safe travel.
- Fatigue Management : For extended trips, taking a rest every two hours is recommended. Driving while sleepy is strongly discouraged.
- Emergency Readiness : Travelers should keep a first-aid kit, essential contact numbers, and spare fuel. In emergencies, the NHMP helpline (130) is available around the clock.
- Reporting Irregularities: Passengers are encouraged to report violations such as overcharging, overloading, or reckless behavior by dialing 130.
The Eid Travel Advisory is part of a broader safety effort that includes intensified monitoring and the deployment of additional personnel along major travel corridors.
Officers are also conducting safety briefings at toll collection points, while commuters can tune in to FM Radio 88.6 for live traffic updates and detour suggestions.
To further enhance public awareness, the NHMP has launched a multimedia campaign across social media and electronic billboards, promoting cautious driving and compliance with road safety laws.
Authorities emphasize that collective responsibility and mindful driving are essential for ensuring a smooth and secure journey for all road users during the festive return rush.
