Islamabad, Mar 3, 2025: Eid-ul-Fitr is anticipated to be celebrated across Pakistan on Monday, March 31, 2025, following the conclusion of 29 days of Ramadan, as per the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council.
According to the council’s Secretary General, Khalid Ijaz Mufti, the Shawwal moon is expected to be easily visible in numerous regions of the country on the evening of Sunday, March 30, 2025, provided that weather conditions remain favorable.
“The lunar cycle will begin on Saturday, March 29, at 3:58 PM Pakistan Standard Time,” stated Mufti.
By sunset on Sunday, the crescent’s age will surpass 26 hours nationwide, making it distinctly visible to the unaided eye.
He further elaborated that for a crescent to be observable, it needs to be at least 18 hours old by sunset.
“The required age threshold will be met with ease, along with the crucial time gap between sunset and moonset, which should be no less than 40 minutes.
This criterion will be satisfied in various cities across Pakistan,” he explained.
Since the moonset will occur significantly after sunset, the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council foresees no obstacles in verifying the sighting of the crescent, thereby setting the stage for Eid-ul-Fitr festivities on March 31.

Nonetheless, the official declaration will be issued by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, the authorized body responsible for confirming moon sightings in Pakistan.
The committee, under the leadership of Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, is scheduled to convene on March 30 to finalize and announce the decision.
Eid-ul-Fitr, signifying the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan, is among the most cherished Islamic occasions, observed with congregational prayers, familial reunions, and traditional feasts.
